The Academy of Jewellery Manufacture and Design is independently owned and operated from Jacques Fabian’s private Studio in Strathalbyn south Australia. We do not receive any Government funding for the training we provide unless otherwise stated.

The Academy of Jewellery Manufacture and Design collects and stores your personal details. During training we record your progress. We use this information to measure yours and out performance, as well as to let you know about our future products and services.

Where State or Commonwealth funding supports training we are obliged to submit your personal progress details for research, statistical analysis, program evaluation, post completion surveys and Internal management purposes.

We also require your authorisation to supply your legal employer with copies of all the results you have achieved whilst undertaking your RPL process.

We do not share, rent, or sell the personal information you provide us. The confidentiality of the information we collect from you is protected under the Privacy Act.

We provide Trade Certified Education© and are members of industry bodies such as the Jewellery Training Council of Australia.

We will train all students to industry best practice. Novice training is also available, however is not certified.

Instruction on the proper use and maintenance of all tools in the workshop will be provide , including safety procedures. Any non-compliance with safety policy or instructions will result in student’s course being cancelled with no refund. This will be at the sole decision of Jacques Fabian and further correspondence will not be entered into. All student are responsible for their own safety as well as the safety and will being of others with in the workshop. (If you see a problem tell someone)

All motorised machines are not to be used without supervision.

All training notes and resources will remain the property of PanachefabENT. No reproduction of any images, notes or video footage is allowed with out prior written consent. Any infringement on any and all IP, Trademarks and Copyright will be legally pursued.

All items created and made under any instruction of educational process at the AJMD must acknowledge either Jacques Fabian or the Academy of Jewellery Manufacture and Design.

All design assistance and guidance provided by Jacques Fabian must be acknowledged in any form of advertising or self-promotion.

Tuition costs cover lecturing only. No make-up classes will be offered. Consideration of such request are subject to discretion by Jacques Fabian – Principal of the AJMD and owner of STUDIO41.

Tool levy is applicable on all courses.

Materials will be charged out at market rate and all material accounts are to be finalized on the date of invoicing.

Any disputes must be submitted in writing. All disputes will be resolved by the AJMD management and the Directors decision is final, and no further discussion or correspondence will be entered into.

STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT

General Business

  • Class times 9.30am – 4.00pm
  • Lunch break 12.30pm – 1.00pm – no torches or electrical equipment to be used during this period
  • All tool boxes and hand bags/ back packs to be stored under your bench and not where someone can trip over them.

Code of Conduct

This Code of Conduct has been implemented to provide the greatest and most consistent outcomes for the individuals learning journey. Please note any non-compliance will be resolved by removing of any person exhibiting unsafe or disruptive behaviour.

  • Please do not interrupt the lecture when he/ she is delivering or demonstrating a skill, task or lecture to an individual or group. Opportunity will be provided to ask questions or request assistance upon completion of activity.
  • If you are unsure of how to do something please ask.
  • All students please participate in special techniques that are being demonstrated to other students.

Novice students are very fortunate to be in the same classes as Trade students. You will learn a lot by watching and listening to demonstrations and lecturers.

  • At no time is a student, full-time, apprentice or novice allowed to demonstrate or assist any other student unless expressly directed to by Jacques Fabian.
  • All work benches are to be kept clean and tidy during your time in the studio. ‘A messy bench leads to messy work’
  • When working at a group bench please return all tools as you finish with them so as not to hold other students up.
  • Pack up time is at 3.50pm each day. Please begin your process to collect lemel from bench tops and skins and put all tools away.
  • Please read and familiarise yourself with all signs posted above or around all the equipment. They are there for the protection of you and those surrounding you.

Lecture table (the black table)

  • Keep black square table clear and unobstructed. This area is to be ready to be used for education at all times please.
  • This area is to be used for:
    • Reading, designing, lunch or to take a break at.
    • No coffee cups, food or rubbish to be left on top of it.

Our facilities and Items to bring to class with you:

We have for your convenience a fridge, microwave and tea/ coffee facilities are supplied for you lunch and break time needs. If you use the small oven or microwave please wipe it out after you have used it.  BYO Food and drink

Full Time Students

  • Specified perishables which you will be advised of – polishing mops, saw blades, drill bits and burs
  • Silver, Gold or other materials
  • Log book/ portfolio (AJMD will provide)
  • Text book notes (AJMD will provide)
  • Tool Box (AJMD will provide)

Online Students

  • A4 or A5 visual Art diary
  • Bic black classic fine point pen
  • Permanent marker pen fine point black or blue to mark your work
  • Projects you have completed
  • The PDF activity associated with your completed project

Apprentices

  • A4 or A5 visual Art diary
  • Bic black classic fine point pen
  • Permanent marker pen fine point black or blue to mark your work

  • All work undertaken within this STUDIO41/ Academy of Jewellery Manufacture & Design training facility (located at 41 Adelaide Road, Strathalbyn, South Australia) by any staff member or student is protected by Intellectual property and current Copyright laws of Australia. Therefore, copying or reproduction in part or in entirety will be deemed as a breach of this Code of Conduct agreement.

Fees and Attendance

All course deposits are non-refundable.

Course fees are not refundable if post starts date.

Novice students must pay their fees for each term one week prior to commencement date or your position will be voided.

Full time students will be invoiced twice a year.

Apprentices will be invoiced once a year in February.

Online students will be invoiced for the face to face component and will pay the resource fees to the supplier directly. Link to resource suppler will only be provided upon invoice payment.

Indeminity

This indemnity is to be signed and a photo copy kept on the A.J.M.D premises at all times.

I ____________________________________ understand that Jacques Fabian is not liable for any injury incurred to my person or my personal property. I understand that I am responsible for my own safety and my behaviour at all times in the STUDIO41 facility. I understand that no makeup classes are available unless offered by Jacques Fabian. I understand that I can have my course revoked for any unsafe behaviour without any refund of fees paid.
